The dedication was celebrated all across the proposed route with parades, fireworks, bonfires, dances, and concerts. Our last Quarterly Meeting of the Minds was hosted by Bill Bruce at the newly located Bake Shop and Cafe - Denison, Iowa. The Bake Shop and Cafe is run by WESCO Industries, a non-profit supporting individuals with disabilities. Until earlier this year, the Bake Shop was part of The Donna Reed Foundation theatre on Broadway St, located in their gift shop. They had limited seating and served coffees and bakery goods. When the roof collapsed at the building, the Bake Shop and Cafe decided to relocate. They found an old carpet store on the Lincoln Highway to purchase and remodel. The place is amazing! Pieces of barn wood (or look-alike wood) are spaced around the building to give a historic feel, vibrant colors, a variety of seating options, a garage door, and well-lit spaces create a welcoming and comfortable vibe. The business now has ample seating, serves a full menu, and has an event space that was perfect for our meeting or a small wedding reception! The location has a great vibe and wonderful food and drink! Congratulations Bake Shop and Cafe and WESCO Industries for creating a space to be enjoyed by the Denison Community and visitors along the Lincoln Highway!
